City Council Approves Residential Development At 2236 W Cermak Avenue In Heart Of Chicago

The Chicago City Council has approved a zoning application for a residential development at 2236 W Cermak Avenue in Heart Of Chicago. Located just east of the intersection with S Oakley Avenue, the project will replace a vacant lot near the industrial area of the Chicago River’s southern branch. Developer 2236 Cermak LLC has partnered up with local design firm Hanna Architects who have worked on various other smaller residential buildings across the city.

Groundbreaking Ceremony Held For First Invest South/West Project In Auburn Gresham

A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the mixed-use development at 757 and 838 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham. The two-building project is located near the intersection with S Halsted Street and its construction is a major milestone as the first Invest South/West to come to fruition. Developers Evergreen Imagine were joined by the design team of Ross Barney Architects and Nia Architects along with other city representatives, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot, for the monumental moment.

Podium Reaches Full Height at 160 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market District

Podium construction is now giving way to tower construction for 160 N Morgan Street, a 30-story mixed-use tower in Fulton Market District. The high rise, planned by Sterling Bay and Ascentris, will be one of the tallest buildings west of the Kennedy Expressway. Programming will include 282 rental apartments and two levels of retail within the first and second floors.

Updated Renderings Revealed For Two-Tower Office Development In West Loop Gate

Updated renderings have been revealed for the two-tower office development at 655 W Madison Street in West Loop Gate. Located just east of the Kennedy Expressway/I-90, the project plans to replace a large surface parking lot and joins various other proposals in the immediate area cashing in on their proximity to the Loop and West Loop. Chicago based developer the John Buck Company, who has managed the Willis tower in its past, is teaming up with local architecture firms HOK and JGMA on the design of the structure.

Extensive Structural Work Spotted at Sears Department Store Redevelopment in Portage Park

The former Sears department store site, located at 4712 W Irving Park Road in Portage Park has undergone extensive construction since YIMBY’s last update. With Novak Construction as developer and general contractor, a comprehensive demolition was carried out earlier this year, making way for a $90 million adaptive re-use project. The six-story development is one of several, including the recently-covered Clarendale Six Corners, meant to enliven the intersection of Milwaukee and Cicero Avenues and Irving Park Road. It should be noted however that, according to an article by Nadig Newspapers, the project did receive a stop-work order from the city this week for performing work outside the scope of issued permits.

Updated Details Revealed For Residential Development At 5841 N Clark Street In Edgewater

Updated details have been revealed for a residential development at 5841 N Clark Street in Edgewater. Located north of the intersection with W Ardmore Avenue, the project replaces a small commercial and office building along with their shared parking lot built in the early 1900’s, all of which have recently been demolished and fenced off. Their replacement is being led by developer Anne Shutler who is working with SPACE Architects + Planners on the multi-unit building aimed at families.

New Details Revealed On The Sale Of Damen Silos In McKinley Park

New details have been revealed for the future of the Damen Silos at 2900 S Damen Avenue in McKinley Park. Located on the Chicago River just north of the exit from the Stevenson Expressway, in a historically industrial area south of Pilsen. The state officially announced the sale of the long abandoned structures which they have owned since 1928 but closed after an explosion in 1977. The sale will consist mainly of a bidding period in which potential buyers will submit their offers for the site.

Construction Reaches Second Floor for Northwestern Medicine Advanced Outpatient Care Center in Old Irving Park

Construction on the Northwestern Medicine Advanced Outpatient Care Center in Old Irving Park has surpassed the first floor, with work now underway on the second level. Located at 4445 W Irving Park Road, the four-story structure is being built on a full city block bounded by W Irving Park Road, N Kenneth Avenue, and N Kilbourn Avenue. The 160,000-square-foot facility will offer a range of outpatient services, including fields such as cardiology, dermatology, endocrinology, infusion, imaging, immediate care, lab draws, oncology, ophthalmology, optical shop, orthopaedics, physical therapy, primary care, and urology.

Clarendale Six Corners Nears Completion In Portage Park

Construction on the 10-story Clarendale Six Corners development is nearing completion in Chicago’s Portage Park neighborhood. The mixed-use project includes 18,000 square feet of ground-level retail space, 258 senior living apartments and a variety of integrated amenities. The project, located at 4715 W Irving Park Road, is developed by Ryan Companies, LCS, and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital.

Funding Secured For Community Center And School In West Town

New funding has been secured for the Esperanza Community Services center at 520 N Marshfield Avenue in West Town. Located just west of the intersection with W Grand Avenue, the funds will go towards the repair and maintenance of their existing multi-building campus. The grant was just approved last month and is coming from the Community Development Program, part of the city’s pandemic recovery initiative which gave money to 80 other proposals.
