Initial Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Morgan Park Commons In Far South Side

Initial details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 11420 S Halsted Street in Morgan Park. Located on the easternmost end of the neighborhood on the intersection with W 115th Street, the multi-phase proposal aims to replace an abandoned ex-Jewel Osco store and its large adjacent parking lot. Dubbed Morgan Park Commons, the team at Far South Side Development Corporation is developing the project and working with local firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative who has recent experience in affordable housing and residential work.

920 N Wells Street Tops Out at JDL’s North Union in Near North Side

Construction on 920 N Wells Street has officially reached its peak, with the 21-story mixed-use building now topping out in Near North Side. JDL, the developer of nearby One Chicago, is also behind this current structure and its encompassing North Union development, one of Chicago’s largest single plans currently underway. The overall $1.3 billion project will span multiple blocks of land that had been sold by the nearby Moody Bible Institute.

311 W Huron Begins To Rise in River North

The superstructure is now emerging for 311 W Huron Street in River North, where developer North Wells Capital has planned a 16-story office and retail commercial building. The developer had secured an $88 million lease with the tenant Spins earlier in 2022, thereby allowing construction to begin. The primary tenant will occupy the three highest leasable floors of the building, which is situated on the site of a former parking lot.

City Council Approves Funding For Armour Institute Building In Bronzeville

The Chicago City Council has approved initial funding for the adaptive reuse of the Armour Institute building at 3300 S Federal Street in Bronzeville. Located on the western end of the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) campus, it is commonly known as the main building, or main, by students and used to be the heart of the college in its earlier days as the Armour Institute. The renovation efforts are being co-led by MCM Company and Washington Park Development Group with local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes working on its design.
