Construction permits have been issued for a new residential development at 6517 S Drexel Avenue in Woodlawn. The project involves the construction of a three-story, three-unit masonry building with open rear steel decks and an egress stair at the second and third floors. The development will be situated in the Woodlawn neighborhood and is owned by BKRS Development LLC. Previously, a vacant lot occupied the site.

The architect for this new development is Charles E. Schwartz. While no drawings or renderings have yet been published, the permit filing’s description paragraph does note that the exterior will be masonry. There will also be a three-vehicle concrete parking pad behind the main building.

The project site is serviced by buses for Route 4 just two blocks west, while the Green Line’s end station Cottage Grove is a nine-minute walk northwest. Metra trains are slightly farther via a 16-minute walk northeast to 63rd Street station.

BKRS Development LLC will serve as the general contractor for the project, which is reported to cost $350,000 according to the permit. There have been no indications for an intended completion date.
