Ranking 25th in the year-end countdown of tallest Chicago construction projects, 920 N Wells Street is continuing facade installation in Near North Side. The 21-story tower developed by JDL is the first step in a larger $1.3 billion development known as North Union.
The Chicago City Council has approved plans for a new daycare at 1749 N Damen Avenue in Bucktown. Located near the intersection with W Willow Street and the famed 606 trail, the proposal will demolish four-existing multi-story commercial structures that have struggled to maintain tenants, including the former home of Mindy’s Hot Chocolate. The project is being led by Kensington Schools under a new LLC, with an undisclosed architect working on its design.
Rising into the 26th place on our year-end countdown is the mixed-use development at 210 N Aberdeen Street in the West Loop. Located not too far from yesterday’s entry of Embry, the multi-mass project is near the intersection with W Fulton Street. The team at LG Development Group worked with local architecture firm NORR on its design with Power Construction executing on the plans.
Plans have been unveiled for a new 15-story mixed-use tower at 640 W Randolph Street in West Loop Gate. Vista Property Group intends to replace a surface parking lot with the new 225-foot-tall structure at the intersection of Randolph and Desplaines. There will be a total of 117,000 square feet of office space atop 2,500 square feet of ground-level commercial space.
Having now surpassed the 12th floor, the condo development dubbed “Embry” has claimed the 27th spot in our year-end construction countdown. This 15-story, 207-foot-tall residential project at 21 N May Street has been planned by Sulo Development and will contain 58 total residences. Floor plans range from two- to four-bedroom units, with floor space occupying between 1,828 and 5,187 square feet.
