The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 370-401 N Morgan Street in the West Loop. centered around the intersection with W Kinzie Street, the three-tower proposal will replace a handful of existing buildings near the railroad tracks. Developer Vista Property is moving forward with gathering all necessary approvals for the Gensler-designed project which received Plan Commission approval earlier this year.

A Final Look at “Sheffield of Lincoln Park” Residential Development

Construction is complete for the six-story residential building at 2700 North Sheffield Avenue in Lincoln Park. Named “Sheffield of Lincoln Park,” this project is a part of a redevelopment initiative by Pihrl and the Chicago Housing Authority for the Edith Spurlock Apartment complex. The two original buildings of this complex were built in the 1960s. The new building, replacing a parking lot between the existing structures, rises to 85 feet and offers 80 apartments, bringing the complex’s total units to 485.

Parapet Installed for 1000M Apartment Tower in South Loop

The parapet topping the new 1000M apartment tower has been installed, bringing the development to its pinnacle height of 805 feet. The completion of this capping structure now offers a final glimpse of the skyscraper’s design and its impact on the South Loop skyline. This 74-story development at 1000 S Michigan Avenue will house 738 total apartments, a pivot from the originally planned 506 condominiums. Time Equities, Inc., JK Equities, and Oak Capitals are operating as co-developers.

Financing has been initially approved for the United Yards development at 1515 W 47th Street in Back of the Yards. Centered around the intersection with S Ashland Avenue and bringing a mix of new construction and redevelopment, the project is part of the Invest South/West initiative and will be built in phases. Developers Celadon Partners and Blackwood Group worked with local architecture firm DesignBridge on the overall proposal.
