Demolition Completes for Harper Court Phase 2 in Hyde Park

Demolition has cleared the way for the new Harper Court Phase 2 at 5209 S Harper Avenue in Hyde Park, developed by The University of Chicago in partnership with Trammell Crow and Beacon Capital Partners. The 13-story mixed-use construction will comprise of retail and a new medical research office facility with nearly 300,000 square feet of lab space, one-sixth of which will be occupied by The University of Chicago. The project site is situated just west of the railroad tracks, with E 52nd Street to the north, S Lake Park Avenue to the east, E 53rd Street to the south, and S Harper Avenue to the west.

An initial foundation and basement permit has been issued for a new commercial development located at 1323 S Ashland Avenue in Little Italy. The project will include a six-story commercial building with office space, retail, and a rooftop garden, occupying 48,000 square feet in total. The site is owned under development by 4S Bay Partners, having previously been occupied by the St. Stephenson Missionary Baptist Church. Plan Commission Reviews DPI Within The 78

A courtesy presentation has been given to the Plan Commission on the Discovery Partners Institute (DPI) at 1519 S Wells Street in The 78. The mega-development sits just west of the South Loop and recently completed the Wells-Wentworth connector, this much needed piece of infrastructure will allow for the project to start constructing buildings. The first of these will be the DPI led by Illinois Capital Development Board and Related Midwest with architecture firms OMA and Jacobs working on its design.
