Steel beam installation is wrapping up for a three-story commercial building at 151 N Michigan Avenue in New Eastside. This mixed-use development will be a direct expansion of the Millennium Park Plaza apartment building located adjacently north. The 74-foot-tall structure, developed by BJB Partners, will activate a previously under-utilized corner at Michigan & Randolph that was a single-story restaurant venue.
Construction permits have been issued for a trio of new residential developments located at 3942, 3944, and 3946 S Wells Street in the Fuller Park neighborhood. Each building will stand three stories (not including a basement level) and come with three dwelling units. The lowermost units will be duplexes integrating with the basement levels. The listed owner of the projects is Cedric Whitten, whose current plans will be replacing a vacant grass lot.
Construction progress continues at the 34-story mixed-use high rise located at 1114 W Carroll Avenue in Fulton Market, with the crane now installed and the central core rising above street level. Trammell Crow Company is developing the 379-foot-tall project, which will replace a former truck rental center and parking lot at the corner of Carroll Avenue and May Street. The development is adjacent to the proposed 315 N May Street, a 410-foot-tall office tower expected to break ground later this year.
The city has broken ground on a new business development center at 5500 W Madison Avenue in Austin. Located on the northeast corner with N Central Avenue just north of Columbus Park, the new center will redevelop the now vacant Emmet Elementary School. The Invest South/West project is being developed by the team made up of Austin Coming Together, Jane Addams Resource Corp, and Westside Health Authority who are working with Lamar Johnson Collaborative on its design.
Progress continues on a mixed-use development at 1203 N California Avenue in Humboldt Park, as structural work reaches the halfway point. Situated on the northeast corner with W Division Street, the project replaces a vacant lot opposite the neighborhood’s namesake park. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, with Pappageorge Haymes taking on the design responsibilities. The design includes 2,500 square feet of retail space on the ground level and 64 affordable units situated on the upper floors.
