Construction is underway on the affordable housing development at 1237 North California Avenue in Humboldt Park. The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit developer, is building a six-story, 40-unit building here featuring one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. The site had been vacant since 2019, when the former La Casa Puertorriqueña Puerto Rican community center was demolished.

Proposals Revealed For Oakwood and Lake Park RFP In Bronzeville

Proposals have been revealed by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development for the Oakwood and Lake Park RFP in Bronzeville. Spread across six sites centered around the intersection of Lake Park Avenue and Oakwood Boulevard, we originally covered the RFP in detail earlier this year as it was revealed to potential bidders.

1646 North Orchard Street reaches half its height in Old Town

A residential building at 1646 North Orchard Street in the Old Town neighborhood of Lincoln Park has reached the second floor. Crews from developer and general contractor Urban Edge Group have reached the underside of the third level of the four-story with basement, five-unit development. Progress is moving along quickly, with UEG targeting a spring 2025 opening for the homes.

Plan Commission Approves Residential Conversion Of 500 N Michigan Avenue

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential conversion of the office building at 500 N Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile. Located just north of the famed Wrigley Building, the once packed office building has almost cleared the final hurdle towards its conversion. Developer Commonwealth Development Partners now needs approval from the City Council prior to moving forward.

Construction progress at Lakeview Landing sees elevator, stairwell cores rise high

Construction of Lakeview Landing continues at 835 West Addison Street in Lake View, with the most prominent signs of progress showing on the concrete cores for the elevator and stairwell. Each of those, the elevator on the northeast corner of the site and the stairwell at the southwest, have reached the sixth level of the future six-story building.

Plan Commission Approves 936 W Leland Avenue In Uptown

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential development at 936 W Leland Avenue in Uptown. Situated near the intersection with N Sheridan Avenue the project will replace a vacant lot and most recently secure zoning approval from the City Council as well. Developer West Leland Avenue LLC is working with architecture firm ORG.

Aberdeen Crossing in now under construction at 1100 West Grand Avenue in West Town

The residential development at 1100 West Grand Avenue in West Town has begun construction, and it also has a new name. Aberdeen Crossing is a seven-story, 99-unit apartment building from Wildwood Investments. Designed by bKL Architecture, the project includes 1,500 square feet of retail space and parking for 28 cars. Twenty residential units will be set aside as affordable.

Plan Commission Approves Residential Development At 7015 N Sheridan Road In Rogers Park

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential development at 7015 N Sheridan Road in Rogers Park. Located near the intersection with W Greenleaf Avenue, the project was originally revealed earlier this year without any renderings or plans by the local Alderman. Now we have a better look at the proposal led by True North Real Estate Holdings.

Masonry work is nearing completion on a topped-out four-story residential building at 1355 North Western Avenue in the Wicker Park neighborhood. The 12-unit elevator building was permitted by the City of Chicago back on November 10, 2022, so there must have been some delays. But crews are active at the site now.

Plan Commission Approves 1200 W Fulton Street In Fulton Market District

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the updated plans for the mixed-use development at 1200 W Fulton Street within the Fulton Market District. Earlier this year YIMBY reported on the proposal’s new design and program, which was a large departure from the originally revealed multi-building complex. Now developers JDL Development and Fulton Street Companies are one step closer to building the residential heavy project.
