A renovation permit was issued by the city on January 7 allowing for major changes to a multi-unit residence at 2049 North Kedzie Avenue in the Palmer Square neighborhood. Real estate records show the 1896-built residence sold in June of last year for $770,000 to an LLC registered in Grandville, Michigan, and now that new owner has plans to add more units.
Details have been revealed for a new community center at 7950 S Emerald Avenue in Auburn Gresham. Occupying a nearly half-block site bound by S Halsted Street to the west, the currently vacant lot will eventually be home to the new $8 million center. Efforts for this are being led by locals Eliseo and Valentina Pacheco-Cornejo.
A multi-unit residence built in the early 1890s is being renovated in Lake View, saving the 130-year-old home from demolition. A renovation permit issued in July of last year allowed general contractor Paul Peterson, Inc to update the apartment layouts inside the building, while modernizing the kitchens and bathrooms. A rear exterior stairway and new decks are also included in the plan, with much of that work already completed.
Residential developments at 1235 North Ashland and 1257 North Ashland in Wicker Park both received their building permits from the City of Chicago late this week. Permission to build at 1235 came through on Thursday, February 6, and 1257 got the go-ahead on Friday, February 7. Both permits allow Noah Properties to get started on their building projects as demolitions near completion. Applications are dated October 14, 2024 for both.
Leasing has begun for the new residential development dubbed ‘Straits Row’ at 633 S LaSalle Street in Printers Row. Located just south of the intersection with W Harrison Street, the new mid-rise replaced an empty lot across from the back of LaSalle Street Station. The project was led by Singapore-based Q Investment Partners and Melrose Ascension Capital.
