Demolitions Are Nearly Complete For 4529 North Western Avenue In Lincoln Square

With only the concrete foundations left to be dug out, demolition work is nearly complete for the new residential development at 4529 North Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Two modest residential buildings with ground-floor commercial space, at 4531 and 4529 North Western, were torn down this fall to create space for the new project. Builder Luxury was listed in the permits, both issued September 12, as the demolition contractor.

405 West Armitage Is Now Under Construction

With the former CVS building at Lincoln, Armitage, and Sedgwick now demolished, foundation work is underway for a new building at 405 West Armitage Avenue in the Old Town neighborhood. That’s where Barrett Homes has begun building a four-story, six-unit condominium project. Barrett Homes has also provided us with some fresh renderings of the development, on which they are acting as both developer and general contractor.

Foundation Work For 537 West Drummond Is Underway in Lincoln Park

Foundation work is underway at 537 West Drummond Place in Lincoln Park for a new residential development. General contractor Summit Design + Build has taken over the site, and dirt is being dug up and push around on what used to serve as a parking lot for the USPS facility next door. Soon, construction will begin on a seven-story, 84-unit building from developer Moyer Properties.

Mixed-Use Development Revealed For 966 W 18th Street In Pilsen

Details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 966 W 18th Street in Pilsen. Sitting right at the heart of the neighborhood’s commercial district, it’ll rise near the future home of the Paseo and recently announced affordable housing redevelopment. Developer Teo Scorte is leading the project that will replace a mid-block vacant lot.

1321 North Ashland Avenue Construction Is Underway In West Town

At 1321 North Ashland Avenue in West Town, which earlier this fall saw the demolition of a 100-year-old brick building, activity has transitioned to construction mode. Work has begun on a new four-story, nine-unit building from developer and general contractor SRD Development Group, designed by Red Architects.

Construction of affordable housing is underway at 1237 North California Avenue in Humboldt Park

Construction is underway on the affordable housing development at 1237 North California Avenue in Humboldt Park. The Hispanic Housing Development Corporation, a nonprofit developer, is building a six-story, 40-unit building here featuring one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floor plans. The site had been vacant since 2019, when the former La Casa Puertorriqueña Puerto Rican community center was demolished.

Proposals Revealed For Oakwood and Lake Park RFP In Bronzeville

Spread across six sites centered around the intersection of Lake Park Avenue and Oakwood Boulevard, we originally covered the RFP in detail earlier this year as it was revealed to potential bidders.

1646 North Orchard Street reaches half its height in Old Town

A residential building at 1646 North Orchard Street in the Old Town neighborhood of Lincoln Park has reached the second floor. Crews from developer and general contractor Urban Edge Group have reached the underside of the third level of the four-story with basement, five-unit development. Progress is moving along quickly, with UEG targeting a spring 2025 opening for the homes.

Plan Commission Approves Residential Conversion Of 500 N Michigan Avenue

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the residential conversion of the office building at 500 N Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile. Located just north of the famed Wrigley Building, the once packed office building has almost cleared the final hurdle towards its conversion. Developer Commonwealth Development Partners now needs approval from the City Council prior to moving forward.

Construction progress at Lakeview Landing sees elevator, stairwell cores rise high

Construction of Lakeview Landing continues at 835 West Addison Street in Lake View, with the most prominent signs of progress showing on the concrete cores for the elevator and stairwell. Each of those, the elevator on the northeast corner of the site and the stairwell at the southwest, have reached the sixth level of the future six-story building.
