The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the community center at 6020 S King Drive in Washington Park. Set to partially replace a vacant lot on the southwest intersection with E 60th Street, news on the project broke over a year ago and has since been reviewed by the community. The project is being led by Sunshine Gospel Ministries and the Chicago Neighborhood Initiative.
Demolition is nearly complete of a masonry multi-residence building at 2034 North Racine Avenue in Lincoln Park. That clears the way for developer Real View Design and Development to erect a two-unit residential project on the site. A pending permit with the City of Chicago, applied for on May 31, calls for a three-story structure with a basement and a detached two-car garage. Each dwelling unit will have a rear-facing terrace, while the garage will be topped by a roof deck.
Further details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 1310 S Ashland Avenue in the Near West Side. Bounded by W Hastings Street to the south and W 13th Street to the north, we recently covered its partial permit approval which can be found here. Efforts for the project are being led by a local developer, with Axios Architects working on its design.
Demolition is mostly complete of the former Uncommon Ground restaurant at 1401 West Devon Avenue in Edgewater. That clears the way for a 12-unit residential development to begin construction. According to Block Club, demolition got started a few weeks ago; all that remains to be cleared from the site is a little bit of rubble, and there’s some foundation remnants to be dug out.
Plans have been revealed for redevelopment of the old school building at 1065 N Orleans Avenue in the Near North Side. Located on the intersection with W Hill Street, the two-story building would become the official fourth location of local organization After School Matters. Design work for the renovation is being led by architecture firm Eckenhoff Saunders.
