Concrete blocks abound at 3605 North Ravenswood in Lake View, as this future 52-unit residential TOD starts to show above street level. Those cinder blocks are beginning to form a core, from which the rest of the building will soon begin to rise.
The city has issued a pair of new construction permits to develop two three-story, three-unit residential buildings at 6220 and 6222 South Martin Luther King Drive in Washington Park. The permits came through on January 24 and January 27 respectively, and they are identical.
Five finalists have been revealed for the city’s Missing Middle Infill Housing initiative across Lawndale. Split into six clusters/zones of vacant city-owned lots, the initiative looks to subsidize the construction of 99 for-sale homes for the middle class in an area that has long seen rampant disinvestment and 15 percent population loss in the last decade.
A three-story with basement, five-unit residential building at 3036 North Sheffield Avenue is showing above street level in the Lake View neighborhood. Summerhill Construction is erecting the development here after taking down a multi-unit residence at 3034 North Sheffield, and a coach house at 3038 North Sheffield in the fall.
A new construction permit has been granted for TA Development to build a two-story with basement, three-unit residential building at 2132 South Fairfield Avenue in Little Village. Issued to the developer on January 17, the permit calls for a front stairway, rear stairs connecting both above-ground floors, and a concrete pad off the alley with three parking spaces.
