1000M is Chicago’s Second Tallest Construction Project

In second place in Chicago’s year-end countdown is 1000M, a 74-story residential skyscraper in South Loop. The 788-foot-tall tower is now rapidly ascending and beginning to leave its mark on the south end of the Chicago skyline. The joint project between JK Equities, Time Equities, and Oak Capitals promises to consist of a total of 738 rental units located at 1000 S Michigan Avenue.

900 Randolph Street Moves To Third Place In 2022 Countdown

Coming in at third place on this year’s countdown is the first official skyscraper on the list at 900 W Randolph Street in the West Loop. Though it is officially located off of N Peoria Street, the structure replaced a one-story building and its adjacent surface parking lot in the quickly growing area, towering above the busy dining strip. Developer Related Midwest, is also planning The 78 mega-development in the nearby South Loop. New York-based Morris Adjmi Architects is responsible for the development’s industrial-style design.

Updated Plans Revealed For Mixed-Use Development In Wicker Park

Updated plans have been revealed for the small mixed-use development at 1912 W Division Street in Wicker Park. Located west of the intersection with N Damen Avenue the proposed structure will replace an empty lot normally used as a parking lot by the surrounding businesses. Developer 1912 Division, who is a part of Elk Enterprises, is working with local architecture firm FitzGerald Associates on its design which was revealed earlier this year.

The Reed Ranks Fourth Place in Year-End Countdown

In fourth place in Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown of tallest construction projects is The Reed, a 41-story residential high rise in South Loop. The 440-unit, 447-foot tower is being developed by Lendlease as the next installation in their Southbank masterplan. Situated under the address 234 W Polk Street, the project is the second tower to be built after The Cooper adjacently east, as well as two acres of parkland and a riverwalk running alongside the Chicago River’s south branch.
