Two-Story Restaurant Renovation Progresses at 431 N Dearborn Street in River North

An existing retail structure at 431 N Dearborn Street is currently undergoing extensive interior and exterior renovation work, with new windows having now been installed. Built in 1948, this two-story River North building owned by Friedman Companies long served as the Getschow Company’s engineering headquarters. Most recently, it housed Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, which closed the location in 2020. The Group is leading the current revamp, which will consist of two new restaurants.

The Saint Grand Nears Facade Completion in Streeterville

Facade construction for The Saint Grand at 218 E Grand Avenue in Streeterville is nearing completion. The 21-story mixed-use structure a joint project by Mavrek Development, GW Properties, Luxury Living, and Double Eagle Development. The building will have 248 apartments, 45,000 square feet of office space, and 7,500 square feet for retail.

Initial Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Development In Bronzeville

Initial details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 4547 S State Street in Bronzeville. Located just north of the intersection with E 46th Street, the new building will replace two vacant lots near the Green Line at 43rd Street station. The project is being developed by Steele Consulting Group with Guider Group LLC serving as the architects.

Plans Revealed For New Hotel In Fulton Market

Details have been revealed for a new mixed-use development at 1016 W Lake Street in Fulton market. Located on the intersection with N Carpenter Street, the project would replace a surface parking lot next to a strip of townhomes facing the train tracks. The proposal is being led by a team made up of New York-based Cogswell Realty and Chicago-based Erol Stapleton, with M Moser Associates working on the design.

The Seng Passes 50 Percent in Sales at Near North Side’s Wendelin Park Development

The Seng, a condominium development in the Near North Side’s Clybourn Corridor, recently reported contracts for over half of its 34 below-market-rate units. It is one of three buildings in the Wendelin Park master plan by Structured Development. Designed by GREC Architects, the building features a textured gray facade complemented by red metal accents.

Demolition Permit Issued for 210 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market

The first demolition permit has now been issued for 210 N Morgan Street in Fulton Market. The demolition will give rise to a 33-story mixed-use development by Newcastle Limited. This 380-foot tower will house 204 residential units: 59 studios, 18 convertibles, 72 one-bedroom units, 23 one-bedrooms with a den, and 33 two-bedrooms. Of these units, 41 will be designated as affordable for those earning 60% or below the Area Median Income (AMI).

UAW Strike Deal Includes Major Investments In Chicagoland

New details have been revealed for major investments on Chicagoland auto plants as part of a deal with United Auto Workers. The two largest winners are the Stellantis Belvidere factory at 3000 W Chrysler Drive, and the Ford factory at 12600 S Torrence Avenue in Hegewisch. The announcement comes as part of the recently announced contract between the UAW and the three major automakers of GM, Stellantis, and Ford.

Final Touches Spotted at 133 S Ashland Avenue in West Loop

Maeve on Ashland is nearing its facade completion at 133 S Ashland Avenue in West Loop. Developed by The Maeve Group, the residential building will house 89 apartments and provide 116 parking spots, with three of those spots being wheelchair accessible. Previously, the site had a two-story building and a parking area.

Rush Specialty Hospital Finalizes Construction in Little Italy

Facade work for the five-story Rush Specialty Hospital at 516 S Loomis Street in the Little Italy neighborhood is nearing completion. This new facility represents a partnership between the Rush University System and Select Medical. Located on the same block as the Joan and Paul Rubschlager building that opened earlier this year, the hospital is complemented by an adjacent third plot, which offers potential for a building spanning up to 855,000 square feet.

1002 S Racine Passes Third Floor in Little Italy

Construction on the six-story mixed-use building at 1002 S Racine Avenue in Little Italy has reached the third floor. This new construction is a collaboration between Related Midwest and the Chicago Housing Authority, part of the Roosevelt Square Phase 3B plan. This phase encompasses three mixed-income apartment buildings and the new National Museum of Public Housing.
