Pre-leasing has begun for the residential tower at 1000 S Michigan in the South Loop with new renderings revealed. Located along the famed streetwall across the street from Grant Park, 1000M came in second place on our 2023 year-end countdown as work is quickly wrapping up. The project is being led by developers Time Equities, Inc., JK Equities, and Oak Capital, with Jahn/ Architecture working on the design.
Scheduled to open for initial move-ins on February 1, the 6 Corners Lofts project at 4714 W Irving Park Road in Portage Park marks a significant redevelopment of the former Sears store. Managed by Novak Construction, this $90 million project features 50,000 square feet of retail space, with Target as the primary tenant, above which are 206 apartment units.
Much of the facade has been installed along the western street wall of the Pedro Albizu Campos Apartments, located at 1203 N California Avenue in Humboldt Park. This nine-story affordable housing development occupies a previously vacant lot and spans a total of 83,000 square feet. The 95-foot building will yield 64 housing units on the upper floors and 2,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. Named after Puerto Rican activist Pedro Albizu Campos, the development is a collaborative project between the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation (HHDC) and Pappageorge Haymes.
Initial details have been revealed for a residential development at 936 W Leland Avenue in Uptown. Located just east of the intersection with N Sheridan Avenue, the new building will replace a vacant lot not too far from the lakefront. The plans were revealed in this month’s newsletter from 46th Ward Alderwoman Angela Clay.
Partial financing has been secured for the first tower of the Halsted Pointe development at 901 N Halsted Street on Goose Island. Located on the southern tip of the island, the mixed-use project replaces the Greyhound Bus facility with permits being applied for late last year with the city. Canadian-based developer Onni Group is not only behind this project but also Halsted Landing right across the river.
