Demolition is being carried out on a frame residence at 822 West Aldine Avenue in Lake View, where a new four-unit building will soon begin construction. A demo permit was issued by the city on September 5, 2024, with All Concrete Contractors handling the teardown. The home, built in 1885, sold back in July for just over $1.5 million, according to real estate records.

MK Construction & Builders received another permit on February 20 of this year, allowing for the construction of a four-story with basement, four-unit masonry building. It will be topped by a roof deck, as will a detached four-car garage at the rear of the property, accessed from the alley. Pro-Plan Architects is named as the architect of record, and the construction costs are estimated to be $950,000. The construction application was filed on April 16, 2024. It is not yet clear if these will be for-sale condos or rental units.

Geeze, I can’t believe that house sold for 1.5 million, that’s crazy.
Location, Location, Location. I’m sure the four new units will more than justify the land acquisition cost; otherwise, it wouldn’t have sold.
