Rush Specialty Hospital Takes 30th Place In 2023 Countdown

We continue our 2023 countdown with the 30th place going to the Rush Specialty Hospital at 516 S Loomis Street in Little Italy. Located on the northwest corner of the intersection with W Harrison Street, the building is receiving its final touches as construction quickly wraps up prior to winter. The project is a collaboration between the Rush University System and Select Medical, with GWG3 Architecture working on its design.

Rush Specialty Hospital Finalizes Construction in Little Italy

Facade work for the five-story Rush Specialty Hospital at 516 S Loomis Street in the Little Italy neighborhood is nearing completion. This new facility represents a partnership between the Rush University System and Select Medical. Located on the same block as the Joan and Paul Rubschlager building that opened earlier this year, the hospital is complemented by an adjacent third plot, which offers potential for a building spanning up to 855,000 square feet.

Permits Issued for Rush Medical Center Expansion at 516 S Loomis Street

A full construction permit was issued this week for a new five-story medical building at 516 S Loomis Street in Little Italy. Named the Rush Specialty Hospital, the facility will further augment the Rush University Medical Campus, and will be located on the same block as the nearly completed Joan and Paul Rubschlager building. Between these two locations, there is a third site that will be able to support a future development with up to 855,000 square feet, nearly twice as much as the Roan and Paul Rubschlager building.

Garage Wing Rises at Rush University’s Joan and Paul Rubchlager Medical Building

Work on the northern garage section is now underway for the Rush University‘s new Joan and Paul Rubschlager cancer and neurosciences building. The 10-story project lies at 1520 W Harrison Street, located in Little Italy directly along the border with the Illinois Medical District. Connecting these two districts over Ashland Avenue, the facility will be linked to Rush University’s main medical building via a pedestrian skybridge.
