The Foglia Residences Begins Cladding Installation in Illinois Medical District

Initial facade pieces have been installed at the base of The Foglia Residences, a nine-story mixed-use development that is now topped out in the Illinois Medical District. Located at 1134 S Wood Street, this project is a collaboration between Brinshore Development and the Chicago Lighthouse, a non-profit organization serving the visually impaired, disabled, and veterans.

Set to house 76 affordably-priced residences in total, the development will reserves ten units for veterans and 40 units for individuals who are visually impaired or blind. The unit layouts consist of 18 studios, 40 one-bedroom apartments, and 18 two-bedrooms.

The Foglia will have access to a range of amenities and features, such as a gym, common areas in the lobby, a three-level parking garage with 58 spaces. There will also be a 1,500-square-foot retail space on the ground floor.

Designed by Landon Bone Baker Architects, the Foglia Residences will showcase an exterior of brick, colored fiber cement paneling, and perforated metal.

The development is well-situated for public transit, with the CTA Pink Line at Polk station via a six-minute walk away and bus service for Routes 7, 9, X9, 12, 50, 157, and 755 all servicing the vicinity.

McShane Construction is overseeing construction as general contractor development, funded by Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Department of Housing multi-family loans, Illinois Affordable Housing Tax Credits, and tax-exempt bonds. The project is set to be completed in May 2024.
