Concrete is in the ground for Kensington School West Loop

Foundation work is underway at 1220 West Adams Street for the Kensington School West Loop. Having received a new construction permit from the City of Chicago on August 26, general contractor Charles Hall Construction has begun ground-level work with a hand from Taylor Excavation. The permit calls for a three-story building with an unspecified number off-street parking spaces. The new school replaces a former Boy Scouts of America office building and retail shop, which was demolished this spring.

Foundation work has begun at 224 South Ashland Avenue

Foundation work has begun at 224 South Ashland Avenue on the Near West Side. Here, 4Corners Real Estate is developing a five-story, 56-unit apartment building on the site of the former home of Loop Lawyers. That structure, at 220 South Ashland, got a demolition permit on April 14, 2022, with Taylor Excavating performing the demo work. A new construction permit was issued January 6, 2023, which, after a bit of a delay, was reinstated on February 22 of this year.

Demolition Permit Issued for 1353 W Fulton in Fulton Market

Shapack Partners has received a demolition permit clearing the way for a 29-story mixed-use development at 1353 W Fulton Street. The tower, set to be constructed near the western edge of Fulton Market, will take the place of the current single-story building at 224 N Ada Street. Programming will yield 308 residential units, ground-floor retail, and both resident- and public-facing amenity spaces.
