Facade work continues to progress for The Foglia Residences, a nine-story mixed-use development in the Illinois Medical District. Located at 1134 S Wood Street, the project represents a joint effort between Brinshore Development and Chicago Lighthouse.

This development will feature a total of 76 affordable housing units for those who are blind or visually impaired, disabled, or veterans. The floor plan distribution includes 18 studios, 40 one-bedroom, and 18 two-bedroom apartments.

Residents will have access to a gym, communal areas in the lobby, and a three-level parking garage offering 58 spaces. Additionally, a retail space spanning 1,500 square feet will occupy the ground floor.

The design by Landon Bone Baker Architects exhibits a combination of brick, colored fiber cement paneling, and perforated metal. The location is a six-minute walk to the CTA Pink Line at Polk station, and the area is serviced by several bus lines such as Routes 7, 9, X9, 12, 50, 157, and 755.

McShane Construction is the general contractor for the $48.1 million project, which is financed through a mix of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, Department of Housing multi-family loans, Illinois Affordable Housing Tax Credits, and tax-exempt bonds. Completion of The Foglia Residences is anticipated for July 2024.
