Construction is set to begin on a new residential building at 2039 W Huron Street in West Town, following the approval of a self-certified permit. Initiated on August 4, 2023, the permit was issued on November 20, 2023, after a 108-day review process.
The development, led by 2037-39WHuron, LLC, will feature a three-story building housing five dwelling units with a basement. Designed by architect John Hanna, the building includes several outdoor spaces: a rooftop deck with stair enclosures, a rear porch/terrace on the first story, a front deck on the second story, and a rear porch on the third story. There will be a detached three-car and two-car garage, both equipped with rooftop decks.
The general construction for this project will be overseen by Bachula Development Inc, a Chicago-based contractor known for their expertise in residential projects. The masonry work, crucial to the building’s structural integrity and aesthetic, will be a joint effort between Casey Masonry Brick, Inc. and Tir Conaill Concrete, Inc.
This project’s budget is $2,153,400, and permit fees totaled $13,878.24. When complete, residents of 2039 W Huron Street will be located steps from stops from stops for the 50 bus line, and a 4 minute walk to the north from stops for the 66 bus line. Beyond that, stops for the 49 and 65 bus lines are located a 7 minute walk to the south of the property, and the Western Avenue Metra Station, which services the MD North/West Line Trains and the North Central Train, will be located an 18 minute walk to the southwest.
