In Humboldt Park, at 2933 W Division Street, progress continues on the construction of a new health and wellness center, as window installation has commenced. The architectural firm JGMA has partnered with Humboldt Park Health on this $24 million project. Standing three stories tall and reaching a height of 62 feet, the 45,500-square-foot building will showcase a curved design featuring a pearlescent green and blue facade, complemented by glass curtain wall cut-outs.
The ground floor of the building will include a corner lobby, a sports medicine clinic, a kids’ area, locker rooms, and a 6,400-square-foot pool room. The second floor will have an 8,500-square-foot fitness space surrounded by an indoor track, along with a group exercise room, a mind-body studio, a cycling room, and additional restrooms. The third floor will feature a 1,245-square-foot pre-function area, a 1,600-square-foot community room, two lecture rooms, more restrooms, and an outdoor terrace with a green roof.
A 163-space parking lot along Richmond Street will serve the center, removing the need for an on-site garage. Public transportation options include Route 70 bus stops at the nearby intersection of Division and Richmond Streets, and Route 94 stops within a five-minute walk at California and Division Streets.
All Masonry Construction is serving as the general contractor for the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
Note from the author: YIMBY Community, I will be relocating to a new city and this will therefore be my last article. It has been a pleasure covering Chicago architecture and development these last four years, and I’m excited to keep up with the city as it continues to evolve.
