A demolition permit was issued on Thursday the 30th for a two-story, multi-unit residence along with a coach house located at 1522 N Mohawk Street in the Old Town neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as B & N Builders. No filings have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there is currently no information on any future constructions at the site.

The Thompson Center at 100 W Randolph Street May Have a New Buyer

Earlier this year Thompson Center located at 100 W Randolph Street in The Loop was sold with a planned multi-million dollar renovation to the Prime Group. The Thompson Center was designed by famed postmodern architect Helmut Jahn and opened in 1985 as the State of Illinois Center. The Prime Group which is headed by Michael Reschke of JAHN Architects made bid for the Thompson Center in April. The developer had planned a $300 million renovation to execute a gut rehab of the facility including opening the atrium to the outdoors and enclosing the work floors to reduce heat expenses, as well as renovating all of the floors. In the original plan, the state would eventually buy back parts of the building after Prime Group’s renovation.

A new permit was issued last week for the construction of a four-story mixed-use construction located at 1218 W Belmont Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Belmont Development LLC and plans indicate there will be retail on the first floor, and six total units spread across the second through fourth floors. The building will have a roof deck and there will be an attached seven-vehicle garage.

Demolition Begins for 1150 W Lake Street in Fulton Market

Demolition has begun for 1150 W Lake Street in Fulton Market District, where LG Development Group has planned for a major mixed-use development. Straddling the elevated CTA’s elevated tracks, the two-tower scheme includes an 18-story building at the northern end replacing, as well as a 29-story building the southern end. The shorter edifice will be replacing a formerly vacant lot, while the taller tower will replace multiple single-story masonry buildings that are now being removed.
