1400 S Wabash Tops Out in South Loop

The superstructure has reached its full 350-foot height for 1400 S Wabash Avenue in South Loop, where CMK Companies is developing a 30-story apartment tower. Replacing a long-vacant former parking lot, the tower will help bolster the outer edge of South Loop’s skyline while adding 350 new residences to the area. There will also be a retail component with storefront along Wabash Avenue. The residential lobby, meanwhile, will be located around the corner along a new driveway extending off of 14th street.

Updated Plans Revealed For 465 W Cermak Road In Chinatown

New details have been revealed for the mixed use redevelopment of 465 W Cermak Road in Chinatown. Located directly on the south branch of the Chicago River and on the intersection with S Canal Street, the multi-story structure has seen its fair share of redevelopment proposals in the last few years with none coming to fruition yet. Years after 465 W Cermak Road was proposed to be turned into residences, then into a hotel with a home furnishings store, now Aurora-based Windfall Group is set to try again with a change in plans as it now becomes known as Pacifica of Chicago.

Demolition Permits Issued for 5000 N Clark Street in Andersonville

A demolition permit was issued on Tuesday for the removal of a one-story masonry building located at 5000 N Clark Street in the Andersonville neighborhood. The site was formerly home to Start Auto Repair and Body Shop. McDonagh Demolition Inc is serving as the demolition contractor for this project. At the time of publication, no plans have been submitted for any future developments at the site.

Initial details have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 7162 S Exchange Avenue in South Shore. Located on the northeast corner of S Yates Boulevard and E 72nd Street, the new structure will replace a vacant lot that used to hold a supermarket which has since demolished near the South Shore Cultural Center. Model of Transformation Design and Development, a local newcomer, is developing the property dubbed ‘XChange’, although no architect was announced.

Steel beams are approaching what will eventually be the roofline for a new two-story commercial building at 801 W Belmont Avenue in Lakeview East. Developed by Hubbard Street Group, the project will be replacing a former brick edifice originally designed by Ivar Viehe-Naess and completed in 1921.The replacing project will house 59,000 square feet of commercial or retail usage and will come with 300 feet of new store frontage.
