A construction permit has been approved for a multifamily residential development to be built at 5829 S Wabash Avenue in Washington Park. The property will soon host a two-story, two-unit building with a basement, replacing an empty lot that was once occupied by a two-story frame building (demolished late 2014). The owner of this development is Shatha Williams, as detailed in the permit filing.
The mixed-use development at 741 N Wells Street in River North is edging closer towards exterior completion, with installation of the curtain wall now on the final floor. Developed by Vista Property and set to yield a total of 201,000 square feet, the 21-story building will eventually house 168 apartments above ground-level retail.
Details have been revealed for the renovation of the John B. Murphy Memorial Auditorium at 50 E Erie Street in River North. Located just east of the intersection with N Wabash Avenue and adjacent to the famed Driehaus Museum, the stone-clad structure is well known for its internal performance space and facade which has appeared multiple times in media. Now the museum itself is embarking on the renovations joined by Antunovich Associates and Bulley & Andrews on its design and engineering.
A construction permit has been granted for a residential development at 6427 S Rhodes Avenue in the West Woodlawn neighborhood. Owned by Champlain Rhodes, LLC, the project will feature a two-story building with two dwelling units and a basement, set to be constructed on a formerly vacant grass lot.
Located at 1002 South Racine Avenue in Chicago’s Little Italy neighborhood, construction is now above grade for a six-story mixed-use building. Developed by Related Midwest in partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority, the project is part of the Roosevelt Square Phase 3B masterplan. This sub-phase will yield three mixed-income apartment buildings, as well as a fourth building for The National Museum of Public Housing and an additional 15 residences with affordable options.
