The 260,000-square-foot structure is rising rapidly, with its core now at the fifth floor. Ultimately, this new edifice will rise just over 242 feet to its architectural pinnacle, while offering 1,000 square feet of ground-level retail space and 279 rental units above.

Emmett Till House Nominated As Finalist For Adopt-A-Landmark Grant

The Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley House has been selected as a finalist of the city’s Adopt-A-Landmark grant. Located at 6427 S St. Lawrence Avenue in West Woodlawn, the home was recently awarded landmark status in February with its plaque being installed in July on what would have been Emmett’s 80th birthday. The restoration and museum efforts are part of an $11 million project led by Blacks In Green which will include the purchase of two adjoining lots.

The proposed project’s owner is listed as GA Roslyn LLC 6523 S. Minerva. The scope of the project indicates that there will be three total dwelling units. The first-floor unit will be duplexed with a basement. There will be a rooftop stair enclosure, a rear staircase, and a detached three-car framed garage. The lot is currently vacant.

Coming in at spot number 20 in our year-end countdown of tallest construction projects is 166 N Aberdeen Street, a new mixed-use high rise near the western end of the Fulton Market District. Rising 241 feet to the top of its elevator overrun, the 21-story building has been planned by MCZ Development, and will provide ground-level retail and 224 total apartments. Replacing the now-demolished Fabbri Sausage Factory, the project recently broke ground and erected its tower crane.
