Originally designed by the famed German architect Ludgwig Mies van Der Rohe, the nine-story dormitory building was completed in 1955. Recently, the midcentury residential building sat unused and in need of repair.
A demolition permit has been issued for a three-story, multi-unit frame residence and a detached frame garage located at 4251 N Richmond Street in the Irving Park neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Francis Kenneth and Dharma Kuhr. Permits were previously issued in October for plans to erect a two-story single-family home, complete with a basement, two-car garage, and a rooftop deck.
Structural work has reached full height for a new amenity clubhouse, located within the Prairie Shores apartment complex in Bronzeville. Nested between two of the apartment towers, the building will replace former surface parking and reside under the address 2937 S Martin Luther King Drive.
Updated renderings have been revealed for a hospital expansion at 900 W Nelson Street in Lake View East. Bound by W Barry Avenue to the north and W Nelson Street to the south, the development proposed a multi-level expansion to the existing facility at the Illinois Masonic Hospital designed by the local office of SmithGroup. The hospital, which has recently completed a new parking garage nearby at 3021 N Sheffield Avenue, looks to proceed with the first half of the third phase of their campus expansion.
