New construction permits were issued this week for a new three-story residential building slated for 4039 S Calumet Avenue in Bronzeville. Eagle OZB is listed as the owner, and the new three-unit project will come equipped with rear open decks, fencing around the property, a trash enclosure, and a detached three-vehicle garage. The parcel was previously occupied by a vacant grass lot.
A groundbreaking ceremony has been held for the mixed-use development at 757 and 838 W 79th Street in Auburn Gresham. The two-building project is located near the intersection with S Halsted Street and its construction is a major milestone as the first Invest South/West to come to fruition. Developers Evergreen Imagine were joined by the design team of Ross Barney Architects and Nia Architects along with other city representatives, including Mayor Lori Lightfoot, for the monumental moment.
Podium construction is now giving way to tower construction for 160 N Morgan Street, a 30-story mixed-use tower in Fulton Market District. The high rise, planned by Sterling Bay and Ascentris, will be one of the tallest buildings west of the Kennedy Expressway. Facade pieces can now be seen along 900 Randolph Street in West Loop’s Fulton Market District. The 43-story mixed-use tower is being developed by Related Midwest, who has planned an even taller development just one block southeast at 725 W Randolph Street. Given its height of 495 feet, the skyscraper will be the second tallest building west of the Kennedy Expressway.
