Zoning Application Submitted For Old Town Canvas At 1610 N LaSalle Drive

A zoning application has been submitted for the mixed-use development dubbed ‘Old Town Canvas’ at 1610 N LaSalle Drive in Old Town. Sitting on the intersection with W North Avenue, we recently covered the project as it received a height bump after some community input. Local developer Fern Hill is behind the proposal originally revealed nearly three years ago.

In this edition of ‘Lost Legends,’ we look at what is often considered the worlds first skyscraper, the Home Insurance Building. The groundbreaking building stood 10 stories at a height of 138 feet tall at the time of its initial completion in 1885. In 1891 two floors were added bringing the building to the height of 180 feet.

City Council Approves 4225 W Madison Street In West Garfield Park

The Chicago City Council has approved the mixed-use development at 4225 W Madison Street in West Garfield Park, located between N Kildare Avenue and N Keeler Avenue. YIMBY recently covered the zoning application earlier this year. The proposal is being led by John Gardner and his wife, who own Furry Paws Chicago in Fulton Market.
