A groundbreaking has been held for the affordable mixed-use development at 9200 South Burley Avenue in South Chicago. Located at the corner of East 92nd Street, we last covered the project in the fall when it received partial funding and City Council approval. The new structure will replace a large vacant lot near the Calumet River.
Clark Construction has erected their tower crane at 626 South Wabash in the South Loop, while construction of the new residential tower’s foundation continues. Progress is moving along quickly now, a stark contrast to the delay that saw the site sit idle after the caisson and full permits were issued back in 2022.
The upcoming mixed-use proposal at 3664 North Lincoln Avenue in North Center has received approval from 47th Ward Alderman Matt Martin. The small, wedge-shaped lot at the corner of West Waveland Avenue currently holds a one-story commercial building, which will be demolished to make way for a multi-story structure.
Concrete for the 35th story has been poured at the 400 Lake Shore North Tower in Streeterville as July 2025 begins. The glass curtain wall continues its efforts to keep pace with the building’s height, with the 17th level about halfway wrapped as of Saturday, June 28. The 72-story residential tower is on pace to welcome its first residents in early 2027.
Details have been revealed for the multi-phase expansion of the Puerto Rican Arts Community Center at 3000 N Elbridge Avenue in Avondale. Located on the corner of Central Park Avenue, the center is operated by the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance (PRAA), which is also leading the expansion efforts recently approved by the City Council.
