The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved preliminary landmark status for the Ludlow Typograph Building at 2032 N Clybourn Avenue in Lincoln Park. Located near the Lincoln Yards mega-development, the 1913 building will be rehabilitated into a mixed-use property by developer Annexation LLC, who recently bought the building for $15 million.
A demolition permit was last week for a two-story multi-unit frame residence along with a detached frame garage located at 1323 W Nelson Street in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as 1323 W Nelson LLC.
Coming in at the 27th spot of Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown is 142 W Erie Street (formerly known as Bentham) in River North. Sedgwick Development is behind the planning and design for the boutique 14-story retail and condominium project, whose last reported architectural height was 172 feet.
Foundation work can be seen for a new single-story addition at the former site of the iconic Al’s Beef Restaurant, situated at 169 W Ontario Street in River North. The sandwich hub had occupied the existing single-story masonry building from 1985 to 2020, upon which it relocated just one block south to 548 N Wells Street.
A permit was approved on Friday for a new three-story residential building to be located at 4637 S Indiana Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood. The owner is listed as Jacek Bochaczyk and plans indicate this project is a frame structure and will yield three total units. The development will replace a vacant lot.
