Construction permits have been issued for a three-story residential building at 817 N Rockwell Street in West Town. The filing owner has been listed as 817 N. Rockwell LLC, with plans for three dwellings, a basement, a rooftop deck and stair enclosure, and a detached three-car garage with a separate rooftop deck. The development is set to replace a two-floor masonry residential building.
A new developer has taken over the Congress Theater redevelopment plan and intends to break ground by the end of the year. Located at 2135 N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square, the historic Congress Theater sits at the corner of N Milwaukee Avenue and N Rockwell Street. Baum Revision is the new developer, taking over after the previous developer couldn’t finance the project.
Facade restoration is making headway for the 24-story Old Republic Building, located at 307 N Michigan Avenue in The Loop. The 325-foot-tall Classic Revival office tower was designed by Vitzthum & Burns and opened in 1924 along the newly-widened Michigan Avenue.
Construction permits were issued this week for a new two-story retail building, located at 113 E Oak Street in Near North Side. The owner-occupied site is being developed under the name 113 E Oak Street LLC, and will be replacing a three-story white masonry building.
Caissons can be seen lined up along the site of 354 N Union Avenue, a 32-story residential tower now underway near the northwest corner of Fulton River District.
