Construction of the five-story residential development at 1950 West Lawrence Avenue in the Ravenswood neighborhood has now reached the fourth floor. There are 12 dwelling units coming here atop retail space and a first-floor garage. The site most recently held a discount furniture store until it was permitted for demolition in January.
A residential three-flat has been permitted for construction at 4817 South Wabash Avenue in the Grand Boulevard Community Area. The permit was issued on July after its application was filed on June 5, and it was approved with a reported cost of $500,000. Square Construction of Vernon Hills is named as the property owner and the general contractor.
Demolition has rendered mostly unrecognizable the shops and apartments that used to occupy 917 through 925 West Belmont Avenue in Lake View. Permission to tear down the building came in on July 18, with the rear lot having been fenced off well before the demo permit came through. As of July 29, progress had reached the facades along the street front.
Permission has been granted by the city to construct a residential and office mixed-use building at 3422 South Morgan Street in the Bridgeport neighborhood. Showing an application date of December 5, 2024, the permit came through on July 29 with a reported cost of $1.5 million.
