A foundation is being dug out, and piles have been driven into the ground, for the new residential development at 4529 North Western Avenue in Lincoln Square. Two structures with dwelling units and commercial spaces at 4529 and 4531 were demolished in October of last year to clear the site for the project. Western Front LLC, an entity registered in Buffalo Grove, is the developer.
A demolition permit has been issued for a modest single-story residence at 1735 West Grand Avenue in West Town. That tear down could mean construction is imminent for a 32-unit apartment building planned for the lot spanning 1735 through 1747. Two buildings that were home to the AmTab manufacturing Company next door were permitted for demolition in August 2017. Those lots have been vacant since demo work was completed.
The Chicago City Council has approved an affordable housing development at 5853 N Broadway in Edgewater. Located near the intersection with W Thorndale Avenue, the project was first unveiled nearly three years ago and has undergone multiple rounds of community input. It received Plan Commission approval just a few weeks ago.
Foundation work is underway for a pair of single-family residences taking the place of an 1890s building demolished in March. At 4846 and 4844 North Hermitage Avenue in Uptown, Amazing City LLC of Lake Zurich got permits on January 24 and January 30 respectively for the two-story homes. The two permits have identical specifications, and each indicates a reported construction cost of $1.034 million.
Permission has come through for a developer to construct a three-story, six-unit residential building in the 5300 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. An entity of “5321 S Calumet Trust” received the permit on April 17, after filing an application on March 5th. The permit indicates a reported construction cost of $750,000.
