Work Resumes On 1000M , Countdown’s Fourth Tallest Development

Resuming into the fourth spot of the 2021 Chicago YIMBY’s year-end countdown is 1000 S Michigan Avenue otherwise known as 1000M in the South Loop. Topping out at a revised 805 feet tall, the tower is designed by prolific architect Helmut Jahn whose work includes the Thompson Center and passed away earlier this year in the suburbs. Developers Time Equities and JK Equities partnered on the skyscraper which recently secured financing to resume construction after stopping work early in the pandemic.

Near the southwest corner of West Loop, face brick installation has begun for a new eight-story condominium building known as CA6, located at 311 S Racine Avenue. Belgravia Group and JRG Capital Partners have planned the residential development, with 72 for-sale units spanning between three- and four- bedroom floor plans across four total layouts. The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the renovation and expansion of an office building at 1690 N Elston Avenue in West Town. Located on the corner with W Wabansia Avenue, developer Litton Adventures LLC is hoping to bank on the success of nearby Lincoln Yards as the once industrial area continues to grow. The two-phased expansion is designed by Filoramo Talsma Architecture who also worked on the nearby 1525 N Elston Offices and replaces a vacant lot that once held a one story annex to the existing structure.
