A permit was approved yesterday for a new two-story residential building to be located at 6368 S Ellis Avenue in the Woodlawn neighborhood. The owner is listed under the name Joe Conroy and plans will comprise a two-unit row house and an accompanying four-car garage at the rear. The building will be replacing part of the Ellis Avenue Garden.
Structural work has reached the second level for Cedar St. Companies’ 1135 W Winona Street in Uptown. The building is part of a two-building masterplan, each of which will rise five stories and offer a mix of ground-level retail and a total of 180 apartment dwellings.
Initial plans have been revealed for a new mixed-use building on the Humboldt Park Health campus in Humboldt Park. The structure which will become a new wellness and workforce development center is being developed by local organization ASI Home Care, who has not disclosed a formal address for the proposal. ASI is partnering with design firms Urban Works and APMonarch, both of which are Latinx owned and run companies on the neighborhood project.
New permits were issued for the Park Boulevard Phase 3B development. We previously reported on cassion permits for the neighboring building within the project this past summer. Park Boulevard Phase 3B is being developed by Stateway Associates LLC, the new construction will replace the former Chicago Housing Authority Stateway Gardens housing projects.
As the city progresses towards selecting a winner of the highly-scrutinized casino deal, more renderings and information have been revealed on the complexities of utilizing some of the city’s existing structures. The five bids submitted to the city last year span from near Goose Island to McCormick Place, come from three companies with hopes to create a gambling, dining, entertainment, and lodging destination that is unique to Chicago’s urban fabric.
