Chicago Fire Announce New Training Facility In Near West Side

Initial plans have been revealed for a new training facility for the Chicago Fire Football Club near 1459 W Roosevelt Road in the Near West Side. The project would replace a majority of the northern half of Addams/Medill Park bound by W Roosevelt Road, S Loomis Street, W 14th Street, and S Ashland Avenue. The project is being led by Chicago Fire owner Joe Mansueto after failing a first attempt to locate the facility in Belmont Cragin which would have employed 220 people a day. At the moment the design architect has not been revealed.

Demolition Permit Issued for 4222 N Greenview Avenue in Lake View

A demolition permit was filed this week for a three-story frame residence along with a detached frame garage located at 4222 N Greenview Avenue in the Lake View neighborhood. The permit’s owners have been listed as Trianna LLC and NCB 4222 Greenview LLC.

1000M Tower Gears Up to Rise in South Loop

Over this past weekend near the northern edge of South Loop, an army of concrete trucks could be seen pouring the foundation of Chicago’s fourth tallest construction project. Known as 1000M after its 1000 S Michigan Avenue address, this 73-story residential skyscraper will rise 805 feet and house 738 rental apartment units.

Winning Proposal Selected For RFP At 5021 S Wabash Avenue In Grand Boulevard

Plans have been revealed for the redevelopment of an existing building at 5021 S Wabash Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located just north of E 51st Street, the project site includes a large empty lot along with the aforementioned small structure. The project comes as the answer to a 2021 RFP by the city to help bolster the commercial presence near and on 51st, the winning entry dubbed ‘Soul City Kitchens’ is being led by Urban Equities with local design firm SmithGroup re-imagining the lot.

New Permit Issued for 1515 W 18th Street in Lower West Side

A permit was issued yesterday for a four-story mixed-use building located at 1515 W 18th Street in the Lower West Side neighborhood. The permit owner is listed as Michael Fox and plans indicate that the ground floor will be used as a commercial space. The remaining floors will be residential and should result in three total dwelling units. The building is equipped with a basement and an enclosed rooftop deck. The planned structure will fill an empty lot.

Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Development At 170 N Green Street In Fulton Market

Updated details has been released for a mixed-use development at 170 N Green Street in the West Loop. Located just north of W Randolph Street, the multi-structure project will replace the old Bridgford Foods plant which was vacated in 2020 and is currently being demolished. The joint venture developers of St. Louis-based Clayco’s real estate division CRG and West Loop native Shapack Partners, have tapped the Chicago-based architecture firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative on the new design.

61 W Erie Street Switches from Condos to Hospitality in River North

With final touches now underway for River North’s six-story 61 W Erie Street, it has been reported that the former condominium development by LG Development will switch in function to a boutique Sonder venue for medium-term stays. The news comes as a bounce back for the hotel industry, with a demand for hospitality-oriented companies like Sonder helping to lead this resurgence.

Demolition Permit Issued for 1329 N Clybourn Avenue Near North Side

A demolition permit was issued last week for a four-story mixed-use masonry building located at 1329 N Clybourn Avenue in the Near North Side neighborhood. The permit’s owner has been listed as Ravindra Kobawala. As of now, no plans appear to have been submitted to upgrade any of the zoning designations for this property and there is currently no information on any future constructions at the site.

Plans Revealed For Residential Development At 527 W Kinzie Street In Fulton River District

Initial plans have been revealed for a new residential development located at 527 W Kinzie Street in the Fulton River District. Announced in a recent newsletter by 42nd Ward alderman Brendan Reilly, the new structure will replace a vacant parking lot nearly adjacent to the Chicago River across from the quickly climbing Salesforce Tower. New York-based developer Vornado Realty Trust has tapped local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes Partners for the design of the new tower.

Facade Takes Shape at Schiller Place Apartments in Near North Side

Final facade work is underway for the three-building development known as Schiller Place Apartments, each rising four stories under the addresses 711-749 W Schiller Street in Near North Side. This residential undertaking has been planned by Evergreen Real Estate and Structured Development, whose plans include 16 apartment dwellings within each building, for a total of 48. These residences will vary between one- and two-bedroom floorplans. Other features include a leasing office in the easternmost building, landscaping and street improvements, as well as 18 surface parking spaces in the rear.
