The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a new mixed-use hotel tower proposed at 6401 South Stony Island Avenue in Woodlawn. Located on the corner of East 64th Street, the structure would replace a vacant lot just a block from the upcoming Obama Presidential Center. The project is being led by Aquinnah Investment Trust.
A three-story plus basement, two-unit building has been permitted to replace a frame residence at 1455 West Melrose Street on the west side of Lake View. Issued with a reported cost of $920,000, the permit was applied for on May 21 and came through on July 11.
A rendering has been revealed for the upcoming mixed-use development at 1501 North Ashland Avenue in West Town. Located at the corner of West Le Moyne Street, we recently covered the project when it received a demolition permit for the existing two-story garage and office building owned by Arandas Tires & Rims.
Demolition is nearly complete on the former Lawrence Canvas business at 3664 North Lincoln Avenue in North Center. That clears the way for construction of a new five-story, 16-unit residential project from Centrum Realty & Development.
