The surface parking lot at 310 West Huron Street has been cleared of cars and is now surrounded by construction fencing in River North. Machines from Precision Excavation are on site tearing up the asphalt surface as site prep gets underway for ZSD Corp’s new residential development.

A caisson permit was issued November 3rd for nine-story, 149-unit rental building designed by Pappageorge Haymes Partners. That meant anyone still parked at the block-long lot needed to remove their vehicles pronto and let progress take over. Which is exactly what’s happening now. Caisson work is expected to start in the coming weeks.

310 West Huron will be located beneath the south end of the Chicago Brown/Purple Line elevated platform, with an entrance situated one block north on North Franklin Street. Stops for the CTA Route 37 and 66 buses are available two blocks away. The #8 Halsted bus, which was rerouted through River North when Halsted Street was first closed for viaduct reconstruction, no longer passes through the neighborhood, with the CTA rerouting its detour via Milwaukee, Elston, and Division on the west side of the Chicago River.

  1. This is one of the most cool and beautiful areas of the city. I hope this project turns out well.

  2. Right on! Turning one parking lot into 149 units is a nice win.
