A large, long-vacant lot along West Addison Street in Dunning will be improved with new residential building, thanks to a newly-issued construction permit. The city granted its approval for 3555-3557 North Neenah, a three-story plus basement, six-unit building, on November 18. The application date was August 14, and the permit came through with a reported cost of $1.35 million.

The entity of Neenah And Addison LLC of Elmwood Park is the developer, with Peter Sterniuk as the architect of record and TM1 Construction of Burbank, IL named as the general contractor. Details include balconies at the front of the building and six parking spaces. A five-foot metal fence will enclose the property.

While not confirmed, it is presumed the building will face west, with its balconies along Neenah Avenue, eliminating the existing curb cut. Parking would then be accessed from the alley at the property off Addison Street. It is not known if these will be for-sale condos or rental apartments.

The new development is located in the Schorsch Village neighborhood, across the street from Zion Gardens and Mount Olive cemeteries. The CTA’s Route 152 bus stops both eastbound and westbound at the intersection of Addison and Neenah. A three-block walk west leads to north-south buses via Route 86 at Narragansett Avenue. There are no rail stations in the immediate vicinity, but both bus routes can be used to connect with Metra trains within three miles that head downtown.
