A final landmark recommendation has been issued for the Apollo’s 2000 theater at 2875 W Cermak Road in Little Village. Located just west of the intersection with S Marshall Boulevard and the city’s Grand Boulevard, the recommendation was officially made by the Commission on Chicago Landmarks. Now the historic theater’s official landmark designation will now depend on approval from city council.
A renovation project is underway at 2313 West Fullerton Avenue, a mixed-use residential building in Bucktown. The project aims to modernize the one-story building at the address, which currently boasts two dwelling units, by introducing a new office space for residents. The project’s estimated budget is $200,000.
Initial permits, including foundation and superstructure, have been approved and issued for the development at 220 N Ada Street in Fulton Market. Located on the corner with W Fulton Street, the mixed-use development was originally proposed in 2021 under the address of 1353 W Fulton Street. The project is being led by Shapack Partners, CRG, and KMW Communities and received city approvals in 2022.
Metra has taken a significant step towards adopting sustainable transportation by approving the purchase of battery-powered, zero-emission trainsets. This initiative, which was approved by Metra’s Board of Directors, positions Metra as one of the first in the United States to implement this technology.
The City of Chicago has issued permits for a new residential project at 717 North Parkside Avenue in Austin. Permits were issued on February 22, and the project’s budget is $300,000.
