Coming in fourth place in our 2023 countdown is the mixed-use development at 1114 W Carroll Avenue in Fulton Market. Located on the intersection with N May Street, the building replaces an empty lot as part of a two-structure project which is part of the Fulton Park Campus. Both buildings are being developed by Texas-based Trammell Crow who also built Fulton Labs nearby.
Situated at 679 N Michigan Avenue on the Magnificent Mile, a retail redevelopment project is progressing with its facade work. The building, which previously housed an Apple Store and featured the ‘Rapt on The Mile’ mural by Nick Cave and Bob Faust, is undergoing transformation under the direction of Nick Canellis and will encompass four levels with H&M as its tenant.
Construction permits have been issued for a new residential project at 919 W Belden Avenue in Lincoln Park. The project, submitted on December 6 by Development Group LLC Burling Branch, was approved in just 16 days on December 22.
Located at 350 N Canal Street in the Fulton River District, the ‘Cassidy on Canal’ is a 33-story high rise developed by The Habitat Company and Diversified Real Estate Capital LLC. At fifth place in our year-end construction countdown, this mixed-use structure stands at 355 feet and is currently in the final stages of its facade installation.

Initial details have been revealed for the residential conversion of 201 E Delaware Place in Streeterville. Located on the corner with N Mies Van Der Rohe Way directly behind the John Hancock Center, the building was formerly the home of the Raffaello Hotel and most recently the Gale Hotel. The conversion is being proposed by a venture led by Florida-based Pebb Capital.
