Cladding Rounds Out for 160 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market District

Facade work is nearing full completion for the 27-story 160 N Elizabeth Street, a mixed-use high rise towards the west end of Fulton Market District. Now dubbed “Fulbrix,” Moceri + Roszak‘s 293-foot-tall building will have 9,000 square feet of retail space and 375 rental units. Of those units, 20 percent will be priced affordably under the ARO planning regulations. These residences will include a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedrooms. A large portion will also come with private balconies.

Adopt-A-Landmark Fund Approved For Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church In Grand Boulevard

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks has approved the Adopt-a-Landmark Fund for the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church at 4501 S Vincennes Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located on the intersection with E 45th Street, the historical church is credited as being the birthplace of Gospel music and a long term stalwart of the local community. Under a new pastor, the church hopes to see a renaissance as it uses the money for the restoration of the Dankmar Adler designed synagogue, originally built for the Isaiah Temple congregation.

Mayor Lightfoot Seeks to Support Urban Agriculture in the City with Community Growers Program

On Wednesday Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot and the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP) issued a joint RFP for the Food Equity: Community Growers Program. According to a release issued by the Mayor’s Press Office, this is a $2 million program designed to invest in urban agriculture, and increase food equity in communities with a history of disinvestment. This will be accomplished by fostering the development of local growers to fight food scarcity. The release continues by stating that “through this RFP, the City will provide funding from the Chicago Recovery Plan to one nonprofit organization to serve as a lead delegate agency for the Community Growers Program. This lead delegate agency will provide grants and ongoing technical assistance to awarded growers to ensure project success by understanding the specific needs of each individual project site and provide the appropriate support.”

Dead by Design #5: 7 South Dearborn Street in The Loop

Next in our “Dead by Design” series of cancelled Chicago supertowers, we have a 112-story tower originally planned for 7 S Dearborn Avenue in The Loop. The mixed-use skyscraper would have measured 1,567 feet to its roof, marking what would have been its official height. However, the structure would have also been accompanied by three 433-foot-tall antennas that would have brought its pinnacle height to 2,000 feet, just one foot higher than last week’s Miglin-Beitler Skyneedle.

Updated Renderings Revealed For 1475 N Kingsbury Street In Near North Side

Updated renderings have been revealed for the tallest building of the Shops at Big Deahl development at 1475 N Kingsbury Street in the Near North Side. Located directly on the corner with W Blackhawk Street, the tower is part of the multi-structure project that is quickly rising near the Chicago River and Wild Mile park. Developer Structured Development is working with Fitzgerald Associates Architects on its design near the Clybourn Corridor area, with Power Construction executing its build out.
