A permit has been issued to begin foundation construction for the 12-story residential tower at State and 23rd Streets on the Near South Side. Assigned to the address of 2305 South State Street, the building represents Phase 1C of the Southbridge development by The Community Builders. The permit was issued on October 16, just short of four months after its June 24 application date.
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the plans for DuSable Park at 451 North DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Streeterville. The project will redevelop a small vacant peninsula surrounded by Lake Michigan and connected to the upcoming spire replacement, 400 LSD. The effort is being led by the Park District, with partial funding from Related Midwest.
Now that a pair of 1895-built frame homes have been razed from the site, excavation work is underway for a new residential building at 2677 North Orchard Street in Lincoln Park. Two demolition permits were issued for the existing residences on June 30, and both structures were quickly dispatched.
The Chicago Committee on Zoning has approved plans to upzone a large stretch of Broadway across the Far North Side. Earlier this year, we covered the announcement of the new initiative led by the Department of Planning and Development, aimed at upzoning lots along the thoroughfare between Montrose Avenue to the south and Devon Avenue to the north.
Excavation is underway for a five-story, ten-unit residential building at 2206 West Lawrence Avenue in the Ravenswood neighborhood. Piles of sand and soil have built up at the back of the construction site as Longford Construction gets set to begin the foundation.
