A tower crane permit was issued on April 23 for the residential development at 626 South Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. While that was coming through, general contractor Clark Construction and the crew from Thatcher Foundations were busy drilling and filling caissons for the 19-story tower permitted way back in 2022.
A permit was issued on April 22 to build a sales center for the future condominium development at 1325 West Fulton Street. The permit, issued to the address of 231 North Ada Street in the Fulton Market District, was applied for on December 13 of last year. It shows a reported construction cost of $2.2 million.
The Chicago City Council has approved Old Town Canvas at 1600 N LaSalle Drive in Old Town. Years in the making, this project has become a prominent example of the challenges surrounding the city’s approval process and aldermanic prerogative. Local developer Fern Hill is leading the effort, bringing the first high-rise to the neighborhood in decades.
New docks are afloat and pile work continues for the new marina at Navy Pier. A new dock stretches from the west end of the pier out toward the open waters of Lake Michigan, with shorter piers, all of which have now been installed, jutting out at angles toward the water filtration plant across the body of water.
A three-flat has been permitted at 2741 North Greenview Avenue on the northern edge of the Lincoln Park Community Area. Buckley Builders Inc. of Park Ridge are the recipients of the permit, which was applied for on January 8th and received on April 8th. The permit indicates they will be their own general contractor, with a reported cost of $825,000.
