Work on a new outdoor patio is taking shape at 817 W Lake Street in Fulton Market. Developed by Sancerre Realty, the permanent dining and bar area will be attached to the BLVD Steakhouse adjacently east.
Located on the same block as 167 N Green Street, the parcel was originally meant to house a seven-story office and retail building designed by Eckenhoff Saunders Architects. BLVD’s patio would have been a temporary arrangement prior to the building’s construction. However, an issued permit from earlier this past January describes the project as permanent, suggesting that the building’s plans have been tabled.
The firm Aria Group Architects, which specializes in restaurants, hotels, and entertainment complexes, has overseen the design of the venue. The latest revealed layout shows rows of dining tables for four and six people, a bar, a fireplace, various alcoves at the north end of the parcel, in-ground plantings, as well as storage space at the south end along the alley. As seen in most recent photos, the majority of the lot is capped in an open-air wooden enclosure.
There are several available transit option nearby, including the CTA Green and Pink Lines atMorgan station, a three-minute walk west. Bus service can also be found for Route 8 via one block east along Halsted, while Route 20 is located within a 10-minute walk south.
This latest outdoor dining addition to Fulton Market is being built by LG Construction Group. Currently an exact opening date is unknown, though construction appears on-track to conclude within the coming months.
