A construction permit was issued last week for a new residential development at 6545 S Langley Avenue in Woodlawn. The building will be a two-story, two-unit residence with a basement and rear two-vehicle garage. The listed owner behind the filing is 65th and Langley LLC.

The new construction will be replacing a currently empty grass lot that once housed a two-story frame residence. This prior structure received an emergency demolition permit in 2018, with prior Google street view imagery showing damage from a fire.

John C Hanna of Hanna Architects is the permit’s listed architect of record, whose drawings and renderings have not yet been posted.

For public transit, residents will be able to access Route 4 via a three-minute walk east to Cottage Grove & Marquette Rd, while Routes 5, 67, and 95 are a three-minute walk south to 67th Street & Langley. Those looking to board Green Line trains will find service at Cottage Grove station via a 10-minute walk northeast.

While no anticipated completion date has yet been indicated, the reported cost for the project is $429,300. Greenline Homes LLC will serve as the general contractor for the construction.

  1. It would be interesting to have an article on all of the new investment in various neighborhoods. I’ve seen so many articles on new construction in Woodlawn, but I can’t really visualize the total scale of the investment.
