Plan Commission Approves 2 New Developments, 3 Towers in West Loop

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved two projects bringing a total of three new towers to the ever-growing West Loop. Both projects have recently gone through design updates after receiving feedback from the Committee on Design and will now be able to move forward to the Chicago City Council for final approval. The projects consist of the two-tower project at 315 N May Street and 1112 W Carroll Avenue and the new life-science building at 400 N Elizabeth Street.

Extended Funding Approved For Cabrini-Green Redevelopment in Near North Side

Extended funding for the redevelopment of the remaining parcels of the former Cabrini-Green homes has been approved by the Community Development Commission in Near North Side. The first of the two separate vacant parcels just west of downtown, sits north on the corner of N Larrabee Street and N Clybourn Avenue, replacing the recently demolished Near North Career High School. The second parcel just south of the first sits on the northeast corner of W Division Street and N Halstead Street next to a Target that was developed on former housing property as well.

Developer Reveals Plans For Mixed-Use Project At 4458 S Cicero Avenue In Garfield Ridge

The Chicago Department of Planning and Development has approved plans for a new mixed-use complex at 4458 S Cicero Avenue in Garfield Ridge. Dubbed the Le Claire Courts, the project would replace a large empty parcel of land owned by the Chicago Housing Authority that is bound by W 45th Street to the south, S Cicero Avenue to the east, the I-55 expressway to the north, and the name-bearing LeClair Courts-Hearst Park to the west. Developers Cabrera Capital Partners and The Habitat Company formed a large design team lead by Solomon Cordwell Buenz Architects for the sprawling project.
