Potential plans have been revealed for a mixed-use development at roughly 2601 S Martin Luther King Drive in Bronzeville. Located on the corner with E 26th Street, the renderings and rough plans were revealed by local developer JC Griffin. Griffin, who has experience in smaller projects around the city, tapped Wight & Co. and Studio Barnes for the design.
Details have been revealed for the redevelopment of the St. George Church at 9546 S Ewing Avenue in East Side. Located on the eastern edge of the city near the Indiana border and across the street from Calumet Park, the project will revitalize the closed church into an arts hub and community space.
Plans are advancing for the mixed-use development at 801 S Western Avenue in Tri-Taylor. Sitting on the corner with W Polk Street and set to replace a surface parking lot, the project was originally announced a year ago as the area around the Illinois Medical District continues to grow. Just down the street, 701 S Western scored a demo permit to make way for another new structure.
Plans are advancing for the redevelopment of the former Washington Park National Bank at 6300 S Cottage Grove Avenue. Located on the corner with E 63rd Street in Woodlawn, plans for the redevelopment date back to 2019 and have seen various iterations throughout the time. Now the development team, DL3 Realty, has been hosting community input meetings.
Plans are proceeding for ‘The Free To BE Village’ at 4427 N Clark Street in Uptown. Led by the Black Ensemble Theater across the street, the new mixed-use project will replace a one-story commercial building, parking lot, and small vacant lot on the corner with W Sunnyside Avenue. Made up of two buildings, the development will rise in two phases as well.
