Plans have been revealed for the redevelopment of an existing building at 5021 S Wabash Avenue in Grand Boulevard. Located just north of E 51st Street, the project site includes a large empty lot along with the aforementioned small structure. The project comes as the answer to a 2021 RFP by the city to help bolster the commercial presence near and on 51st, the winning entry dubbed ‘Soul City Kitchens’ is being led by Urban Equities with local design firm SmithGroup re-imagining the lot.

Details Revealed For Mixed-Use Development At 170 N Green Street In Fulton Market

Updated details has been released for a mixed-use development at 170 N Green Street in the West Loop. Located just north of W Randolph Street, the multi-structure project will replace the old Bridgford Foods plant which was vacated in 2020 and is currently being demolished. The joint venture developers of St. Louis-based Clayco’s real estate division CRG and West Loop native Shapack Partners, have tapped the Chicago-based architecture firm Lamar Johnson Collaborative on the new design.

Plans Revealed For Residential Development At 527 W Kinzie Street In Fulton River District

Initial plans have been revealed for a new residential development located at 527 W Kinzie Street in the Fulton River District. Announced in a recent newsletter by 42nd Ward alderman Brendan Reilly, the new structure will replace a vacant parking lot nearly adjacent to the Chicago River across from the quickly climbing Salesforce Tower. New York-based developer Vornado Realty Trust has tapped local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes Partners for the design of the new tower.

Updated details have been revealed for a mixed-use development at 4537 N Clark Street in Uptown. Located near the corner with W Wilson Street, the project replaces two one-story and one two-story retail buildings which were demolished last summer in preparation for construction. Developer Longford Design + Construction is also the architect behind the building, which has been a point of contention for the neighborhood since 2017.

Renderings Revealed For Merchandise Mart Renovation In River North

Initial renderings have been revealed for a new expansive renovation of the Merchandise Mart at 222 W Merchandise Mart Plaza in River North. The renovation comes just a few years after it received major updates including new elevators, monumental stairs, and upgrades to other amenity areas. The new work will be led by New York-based developer Vornado Realty Trust who is also planning some residential towers nearby, while the design is led by the local office of Gensler.
