South Loop’s 1400 S Wabash Avenue Claims 10th Spot On Countdown

Facade work continues on this year’s 10th tallest development at 1400 S Wabash Avenue in the South Loop. The mixed-use building has topped out and its facade continues to rise at the intersection with E 14th Street. The rear of the structure abuts up to the CTA Green Line tracks, continuing to create an urban canyon for the train tracks. Chicago-based CMK Companies, who also developed the nearby Imprint tower, is leading the project and Pappageorge Haymes is responsible for the design.

Countdown’s 11th Tallest Tower Prepares to Rise at 225 N Elizabeth In Fulton Market

Foundation work is ready to give way to vertical construction for the mixed-use development at 225 N Elizabeth Street in Fulton Market District, where many of this year’s entries are. Located on the southeast corner with W Fulton Street, foundation work is currently well underway for the structure after it completed the removal of the previous empty surface lot on the site. Developers Sterling Bay and Colorado-based Ascentris have been leading the charge on the Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture-designed-structure.

New CTA Control Center In Garfield Park Could Bring Large Development To West Loop

The Chicago Transit Authority has revealed new plans for its control center near the intersection of N Pulaski Road and W Lake Street in Garfield Park. Located just north of the CTA Green Line Pulaski station and the upcoming Chicago Police and Fire Academy, the new structure will free up space in their current location at 120 N Racine Avenue in the West Loop. The proposal marks one of the largest city investments in the area in recent years led through a venture with locally-based Farpoint Development.

Plan Commission Approves Affordable Housing In Near North Side

The Chicago Plan Commission has approved the next phases of the Parkside of Old Town development in the Near North Side. Located on two separate lots near each other at 542 W Elm Street and 520 W Hobbie Street, the multi-building plans will continue to grow on the affordable housing offered on the former site of the Cabrini Green complex. Developer Holsten Real Estate is operating under the Parkside name in collaboration with the Chicago Housing Authority and the Cabrini Green Community Development Corporation which have tapped local firm Landon Bone Baker Architects for their designs.

Updated Renderings Revealed For Mixed-Use Tower In West Loop

Updated renderings have been revealed for the mixed-use development at 1016 W Jackson Boulevard in West Loop. Set to replace an existing office building just west of the intersection with S Morgan Street, news on the project broke late this October and just now had its first community meeting where the images were shown. Chicago-based Mavrek Development is behind the proposal with architecture firm BKV Group crafting its design, who also worked on the proposed structures at 525 S Wabash Avenue.
