Dinkel’s Replacement Advances To September’s Zoning Meeting

A meeting time has been set to review the zoning application for the mixed-use development at 3327 N Lincoln Avenue in Lake View. Replacing the long-term home of neighborhood staple Dinkel’s Bakery, the new proposal will also demolish three-additional buildings ranging from one to three stories in height. Developer PCR Group is working with Jonathan Splitt Architects on the design, whose application was deferred at last month’s zoning meeting.

Port Of Chicago Applies For Federal Grant To Rebuild Facility

The Illinois International Port District has applied for a grant to extensively restore its multi-site campus in East Side and South Deering. Formally located at 3600 E 95th Street and commonly known as the Port of Chicago, the massive facility has been slowly crumbling into the lake as funding continues to dry up. However, its governing body hopes to get the support of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s $34.5 million grant administered by the Maritime Administration.

Funding Initially Approved For Affordable Housing Renovation In Woodlawn

The Committee on Housing and Real Estate has approved the initial funding for the renovation of the Island Terrace Apartments building at 6430 S Stony Island Drive in Woodlawn. Located near the intersection with E 65th Street and a few blocks south of the future Obama Presidential Center, the tower will receive significant updates under its new owner. That owner being the Preservation Of Affordable Housing (POAH) who is working with an undisclosed architect on the project at the moment.

Plans Revealed For West Side Learning Center Expansion In Austin

Plans have been revealed for the next phase of Malcolm X College’s West Side Learning Center at 4624 W Madison Street on the eastern edge of Austin. Located just west of the intersection with N Kenton Avenue and adjacent to a pair of elevated rail lines, the expansion would grow the class size for the small outpost of the college. The proposal is being developed by the college itself and the greater City Colleges as well, with an undisclosed architect working on its design.
