The Chicago Department of Planning and Development has introduced a notion to provide partial funding for the renovation of the long-vacant Congress Theater at 2135 N Milwaukee Avenue in Logan Square. Located on the intersection with N Rockwell Street, the historical movie house has been in the process of securing a redevelopment for many years with local developer Baum Revision taking over the property mid-2021, working with Woodhouse Tinucci Architects on the new vision for the city landmark.

City Council Approves TIF For Various City Parks

The Chicago City Council has approved the financing for multiple small-improvement projects of various Chicago Park District properties across the city. A majority of the funds will come from various Tax Increment Financing districts, which are often supported by fees from developers. Initial details have been revealed for the redevelopment of the Cenacle Retreat and Conference Center at 513 W Fullerton Avenue in Lincoln Park. The plans which will be discussed at an upcoming community meeting depict the potential future of the multi-lot site occupied by the 1967-built masonry-clad structures. Developer Henry Street Partners LLC has tapped local design firm Wheeler Kearns Architects for the subdivision master planning and design of the one multi-unit structure.

The Chicago City Council has approved the rezoning for a residential development at 3431 N Ashland Avenue in Lake View. The project which YIMBY recently covered will be replacing the existing Loyola Press building as part of a larger project filling up the block just north of the CTA Brown Line. Developer 3443 N Ashland LLC partnered with Studio Dwell Architects on the new multi-part development which began with the nearly complete 3421 N Ashland Avenue directly south.

Initial Details Revealed For 31st Street Beach Facilities In Bronzeville

Initial details have been revealed for the redevelopment of the public areas of Margaret T. Burroughs Beach at 3100 S DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Bronzeville. Most commonly known as 31st Street Beach, the updated plans come after a multi-year delay on the project which will tie in with the adjacent harbor. The redevelopment is being led by the Chicago Park District who is working with local firm Site Design Group on the new structures that will benefit from The Bronzeville Lakefront megadevelopment.
